Task: to create good-looking user-friendly different from the other studios’ website

1 Project started from taking pictures of the studio. It was like a blank leaf to paint on - all the work on the identity, design and development was done by me and I just enjoyed process of looking for ideas, inspiration and creating this product.

2 Taken pictures of the studio’s equipment gave a good start for designing the header of the website - it just reproduces the atmosphere inside the truck.

3 For menu’s background layers of rendered clouds are used and put above each other with different blend mode. It reduces many square corners from other elements in the look of the website. The same approach was used for background on records blocks.

4 I was looking for inspiration in the things inside the studio and the main background of the website was inspired by tiles used for sound protection.

5 Main page of the website has to catch users’ attention and make them look through the other pages. Instead of putting the big list of equipment like on websites of many other studios and what actually doesn’t say a lot to people who are not sound engineers, short sentences about what the note catcher mobile studio is and samples of some records are put on the top of the main page.

6 Wordpress customised backend gives all what is needed to update this website - ability to upload music files and put data about performer, name of the track and music style, upload and create previews of pictures on the gallery page, update text information, guestbook page for users to leave their comments or questions to sound engineer / owner of the mobile studio.

Website is SEO optimised at once - all the images and folders have correct names.

Structure of the website is planned the way that it takes minimum mouse-clicks to get all important information.

Description: Multimedia website for “The Note Catcher” mobile recording studio

Features: This website looks different from competitors’ ones though images of the equipment are used like on many other websites for recording studios. Things like fonts and their colours are accurately worked over as well as backgrounds and position of the text and images. Website is SEO optimised at once - all the images and folders have correct names. It’s run by customised Wordpress backend. It’s user friendly - structure of the website is planned the way that it takes minimum mouse-clicks to get all important information.

Description: Photography part of the website

Features: Photography section of the website had to be simple and at the same time in the style of the whole website. To make it a bit different from most of the photographer’s websites Accordion effect was used on the front page. No flash used in the photogallery, only Jquery. Run by Wordpress.

First designs for Mobile Recording Studio “The Note Catcher”

Last week most of my time was turned to the new project – website and presentation materials for mobile recording studio.

The idea for the name came as a result of a brain storm and staring at the wall where the dreamcatcher was hung. The catcher is a word which does suit the concept of a mobile recording truck – it can quickly move to different locations and pick up the best tunes, notes, voices - everything.

After the name was made up “The note catcher”, work has begun. So far studio’s style (logo, colours and fonts, background), business card design and a page “Under construction” are done, domain name is registered and here is the under construction page.

This page gives an idea to users what the website will be about – preview of the studio inside is put on the page, also - contact details for potential customers and a list of towns the studio can serve so search engines find it before the whole website goes live.

Dreamcatcher worked as an inspiration for the logo as well – the word “catcher” with the letter “O” from “note” reminds the shape of a dreamcatcher and “O” itself works as a catcher for notes in this design.
